Design and Analysis of Advanced Nonoverlapping Winding Induction Machines for EV/HEV Applications

This paper presents a detailed analysis and design guidelines for advanced nonoverlapping winding induction machines (AIMs) with coil-pitch of two slot-pitches by considering some vital empirical rules flux-weakening characteristics. The aim the study is to develop type new stator topology (IMs) that will lead decrease in total axial length without sacrificing torque, power, efficiency. key performance characteristics improved AIMs are investigated 2D time-stepping finite element (FEA) compared those IMs having fractional conventional overlapping windings. Compared counterpart AIM, ~25% shorter output efficiency achieved. In addition, influences major parameters, such as slot, rotor slot pole numbers, stack length, number turns per phase, machine geometric etc., on investigated.
